Our Curriculum

We have developed our curriculum to meet the needs of all our children at Hovingham Primary School as well as satisfying statutory requirements.

We believe learning should always be exciting and take place in a meaningful context for children in each cohort. To achieve this, we have enhanced the National Curriculum (2014) with planned learning opportunities that make up our wider school curriculum.

Where commonality exists between subjects, learning is linked and lessons taught using a cross-curricular approach. Where this is not achievable, subjects are taught discretely. The rehearsal and application of basic skills learned in the core curriculum is a driver for the entire curriculum.

To prepare our children for life in modern Britain, we aim to develop young people with a strong sense of moral purpose, with respect and understanding of those different to themseves.

Our curriculum is rigorous, well planned and delivered by excellent staff to offer learning experiences in an ethos of care, love and support. We believe this enables our pupils to be well rounded, empathetic young people who have a thirst for lifelong learning and respect for all around them.
