In KS1, all children are taught using our co-operative learning cycle which involves: modelling, guided practice, partner practice and independent application.

Children are set in english and maths in accordance with their ability so teaching is precise and can meet their needs to ensure children can make rapid progress, this has a significant impact on EAL learners.  In year 1, children can expect to have a smooth transition from EYFS and sessions are organised in a lab system involving small group teaching and learning with opportunities for exploratory and investigative provision to independently apply skills learnt. In year 2, children can expect a daily diet of reading, writing and maths and opportunities to apply these skills throughout topic sessions which will prepare them for the demands of KS2.
