Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND)
Every child in our school has an equal right of access to a broad and balanced curriculum that enables them to achieve educational success and to reach their full potential.
We value every child for their individual contributions regardless of their level of ability, any disability or any special educational needs.
Some children need particular support during their time at primary school, either for a short period or more continuously. We seek to identify and assess such 'special educational needs' promptly, in consultation with parents. We also actively seek and take into account the views of the child. Where appropriate, we develop an individual education plan (IEP) in consultation with parents.
Children may receive help individually or in a small group according to their needs. Their progress is regularly monitored.
When more specialist support and advice is needed, we work with colleagues from other agencies such as educational psychologists, school nurses, physiotherapists and speech and language therapists.
